About Giant City State Park

Giant City State Park is a natural resources gem in the heart of the Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois, just south of Carbondale. Named for its massive sandstone bluffs, Giant City is home to hundreds of wildflower and bird species and over 100 tree species. The park provides diverse habitats for a wide variety of fascinating reptiles and amphibians. Hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, horseback riding, wildlife watching, and rock climbing are some of the reasons more than a million people visit the park every year. For more information about the park, please visit the IDNR website: https://www.dnr.illinois.gov/Parks/Pages/GiantCity.aspx
